Job DescriptionWe are seeking experienced Seam Welders with strong FCAW welding experience in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment. Candidates must be comfortable fitting their own test plates, working from blueprints, using the metric system, and setting up and troubleshooting welding machines.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of shipyard experience, OR
- 12 years of shipyard experience plus at least 5 years of heavy industrial experience.
- Must have experience with FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
- Candidates will test in 1G, 2G, and 3G positions on steel.
- Must also complete a separate FCAW 4G test.
- Testing includes vertical and horizontal welds using ceramic backing tape and ceramic wedges.
- Certain test coupons will be X-rayed.
- Candidates are responsible for fitting their own test plates.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have an original or certified copy of U.S. Persons documentation available for testing and orientation.
- Must be highly experienced with:
- Setting up, troubleshooting, and operating welding machines
- Metric layout and measurements
- Reading and working from blueprints
- Hand tools
- Grinding and joint preparation for NDT
- Surface and joint preparation for production welding
- Inspecting welds for defects
- Hot-work and Lockout/Tagout safety procedures
