Security Specialist

Job Title

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

The duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Serves as an Agency expert and point of contact for their assigned area of responsibility on issues pertaining to the APHIS Security Program.
• Responsible for leading, implementing, and monitoring the development and administration of the Program, and the training of Security Officers and Emergency Security Coordinators.
• Provides physical security duties and biohazard security support for employees and contractors during animal and plant health response activities and deployments.
• Conducts investigations related to external threats to Agency employees.
• Conducts security and threat assessments related to APHIS facilities, programs, and personnel.
• Provides safety and security briefings and programs within APHIS.
