The Role

The successful candidate will support and lead key components of Tax Controversy Counsel matters, including:

• Take ownership of substantive workstreams within the relevant practice.
• Draft and review sophisticated legal and client-facing materials.
• Analyze complex legal, regulatory and commercial issues.
• Coordinate efficiently with partners, clients and cross-practice teams.
• Assume increasing responsibility for matter management and execution.

The role offers increasing responsibility as experience, judgment and client relationships develop.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a Tax Controversy Counsel with:

• 7–11 years of relevant experience, consistent with the seniority sought for this search.
• Substantive experience relevant to Tax Controversy Counsel.
• Strong drafting, analytical, communication and matter-management skills.
• A JD from a Top 50 U.S. law school.
• Active Illinois bar admission required
• Tax LL.M. preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $395,000–$545,000 + benefits & bonuses. Actual base compensation may depend on class year, experience, qualifications and other job-related factors.
