Qualifications

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Manager for our facility team to join the Fremont laser fab. Successful candidates will have a strong background and understanding of expanding and managing semiconductor facilities. You will lead a facilities team, drive facility reliability initiatives, support manufacturing capacity expansion, and ensure uninterrupted operation of fabrication and manufacturing facilities. The position requires close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, and external contractors to enable world-class fab performance.

Specific Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Reliability

  • Lead daily operation, maintenance, and reliability of all facility and utility systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical systems including:
    • Electrical power distribution
    • Emergency power systems
    • HVAC and cleanroom systems
    • Process cooling water (PCW)
    • DI water
    • Wastewater treatment systems
    • Specialty gas delivery systems
    • Vacuum systems
    • Chemical distribution systems
    • Compressed dry air (CDA)
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
  • Establish and monitor facility KPIs including uptime, MTBF, MTTR, energy consumption, and utility system performance.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for utility or facility-related excursions.

Semiconductor Fab Infrastructure

  • Maintain cleanroom environmental performance including:
    • Temperature control
    • Humidity control
    • Airflow management
    • Particle control
    • Pressurization requirements
  • Support manufacturing operations by ensuring utility systems meet process tool requirements.
  • Collaborate with Process, Equipment, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues impacting yield, quality, or throughput.
  • Support equipment installation and qualification activities.

Capital Projects & Capacity Expansion

  • Lead facility-related capital projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Manage facility expansion, retrofit, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
  • Develop capital expenditure forecasts and cost justifications.
  • Coordinate design reviews with internal stakeholders and external engineering firms.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet operational requirements.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across facilities operations.
  • Manage hazardous materials infrastructure including chemicals, gases, wastewater, and abatement systems.
  • Lead emergency response planning and business continuity initiatives.
  • Ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage relationships with utility providers, contractors, consultants, and service vendors.
  • Negotiate maintenance and service contracts.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Oversee contractor activities during facility projects and maintenance work.

Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of facilities engineering and operations experience in semiconductor manufacturing or other high-tech manufacturing environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, maintenance, or facilities teams.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing critical utility systems and cleanroom environments.
  • Experience leading capital projects and facility expansions.
  • GaN epitaxy growth facility experience is plus
  • Experience with several of the following facility systems: Air handlers, waste treatment, compressed clean dry air, house vacuum, chilled water supply, inert and hazardous gas delivery systems.
  • Experience in a quality certified environment, i.e. ISO9001, 5S, 8D, lean six sigma
  • Excellent communication skills, self-driven and able to work independently.

The full time base salary range for the position of Senior Manager Facilities is $170,000 to $220,000 per annum. The range reflects the minimum and maximum possible base salary for new hires for the role, based on the advertised location. Individual pay is determined by several factors including work location, job related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
