Shipping and Receiving Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk accurately receives, verifies, labels, and records incoming products, then prepares and organizes them for timely shipment to designated sites. This role involves using warehouse equipment to move materials, scanning items into containers, and entering detailed inventory and part information into computer systems while maintaining high accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Match incoming products against purchase orders to verify accuracy of items received.
  • Physically inspect, count, and label all received products to ensure correct identification and traceability.
  • Designate received items to the appropriate site or area based on operational requirements.
  • Scan each item into the appropriate container (such as pallets or bins) to prepare orders for shipment in a timely manner.
  • Use pallet jacks and forklifts to safely move product throughout the warehouse.
  • Perform data entry in computer systems, including inventory updates, part numbers, and other shipment and receiving information.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities, including picking, packing, and packaging orders as needed.
  • Assist with inventory control tasks, including cycle counts and stock verification.
  • Operate RF scanners to track and manage inventory and order movement.
  • Load and unload materials and products as part of general warehouse labor duties.
  • Follow established processes and procedures learned during training to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment while performing warehouse tasks.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of shipping and/or receiving experience.
  • At least 2 years of receiving experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including strong data entry capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent counting ability.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving operations, including picking, packing, and packaging.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to be trained on forklift operation.
  • Ability to use pallet jacks to move product safely and efficiently.
  • Experience with inventory control, including cycle counts and inventory verification.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for inventory and order tracking.
  • Capability to perform loading and general labor tasks in a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.

Work Environment

The role is based in an e-fulfillment warehouse environment that supports implementation services from design consultation through technical integration, buildout, and retrofits to optimize site efficiencies. Associates work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime offered as needed and communicated ahead of time for planning. The facility uses equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and RF scanners, and involves regular inventory handling, loading, and general warehouse labor. The dress code requires steel-toed shoes and jeans, reflecting a safety-focused, hands-on operational setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
