This shipping and receiving position supports day-to-day operations in a modern, climate-controlled distribution facility. You will focus on picking and packing orders, unloading trucks, and placing products into their designated locations in the warehouse. The role runs through the end of the year with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance, and it offers consistent first-shift hours with opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Pick customer orders accurately using RF scanners and prepare items for packing.
• Pack products securely and efficiently to ensure they arrive safely and in good condition.
• Unload incoming trucks manually and move products to the appropriate staging or storage areas.
• Place products into designated warehouse locations, following inventory and storage guidelines.
• Use pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment to move products safely around the facility.
• Assist with receiving activities, including verifying counts and organizing incoming shipments as needed.
• Support shipping operations by preparing orders for outbound shipments and staging them for loading.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse team members to meet daily productivity and accuracy targets.
• Adapt to changing workload demands, including working additional hours when required during busy periods.

Essential Skills

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in warehouse picking, packing, receiving, or similar warehouse operations.
• Hands-on experience with order picking and packing in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to use RF scanners for order selection and inventory-related tasks.
• Experience with material handling tasks such as moving, staging, and organizing products.
• Ability to safely operate a pallet jack for moving pallets and larger loads.
• Basic understanding of shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting.
• Capability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and moving products throughout the shift.
• Reliability to work full first-shift hours and additional overtime when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse temp role or similar short-term assignment.
• Comfort working in a structured environment with defined productivity and accuracy goals.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure correct items are picked, packed, and placed in proper locations.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to new processes quickly.

Work Environment, Shift Hours, and Pay

This position is based in a brand-new, climate-controlled warehouse facility that opened in December 2023. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at $22/hr.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Janesville, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
