Responsibilities
Support resident participation in recreational, social, and wellness activities by providing encouragement and mobility assistance as needed.
Assist with games, crafts, music programs, exercise groups, special events, and other recreational activities.
Interact respectfully with residents while promoting dignity, privacy, and resident rights.
Document resident participation in activities according to department procedures.
Follow established safety practices and assist in creating a positive, welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
Knowledge & Experience
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Ability to obtain BLS Certification upon hire.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Workers Card upon hire.
Basic communication and computer skills.
Reliable, dependable, and willing to learn.
Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, and staff.
Interest in healthcare, recreation, education, human services, or community service preferred.
Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Environment
The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. This position works primarily within the Long-Term Care unit, interacting regularly with residents, families, staff, and visitors while supporting a variety of recreational and social activities. Most work is performed indoors and involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, and assisting residents to and from activities.
Job Hazard: Exposure to infectious diseases, resident handling activities, slips, trips, falls, and other hazards commonly associated with healthcare environments may occur.
