Student Nutrition - Elementary Kitchen Manager - Mize Elementary School 2026-2027 School Year Shift Hours: 8.0 hours per day, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Position Function (include but are not limited to the following): The kitchen manager effectively, leads and participates in preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel at an assigned site; arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner; monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas and assures a safe and sanitary working environment. Requirements: - All employees must have a current TB test (Tuberculosis). If you've had a recent TB Test (less than 12 months ago) we can accept a copy of your test results. If it's been more than 1 year ago, you will be required to obtain a new test. Employees are responsible for the cost of the test. -Must pass standardized strength & agility testing requiring lifting up to 50 pounds. -Must submit pre-employment physical prior to first day of work
Title The Student Nutrition Kitchen Manager assists in the preparation and serving of food, and in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Nutrition Services Kitchen Manager must work closely with the staff and administration of USD 232. Supervision Director of Student Nutrition/Student Nutrition Manager

High school diploma or equivalent
Qualifications Experience in large scale food production and kitchen management
Health and inoculation Certificate on file in the district office
Must pass strength and agility test
Must pass criminal background check
Must have valid driver's license and able to drive district and personal vehicle
Must attend Food Safety Basic Class
Physical Requires prolonged standing.
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials up to 50 pounds
Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching
Must work indoors and outdoors year-round
Must work in noisy and crowded environments
Must be able to climb stairs and use a small stepladder
Must work in and around fumes and odors
Prepare and serve food, and clean kitchen equipment as directed
Maintain proper sanitary and safety practices
See that district policies are observed at all times
Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques
Manage all kitchen employees; to include training and administering 60 day and annual evaluations
Order and maintain adequate supplies of food, paper supplies and equipment
Follow standardized recipes
Oversee and participate in cooking, preparation and serving of food and drink
Evaluate prepared food for appearance, flavor and temperature
Keep an accurate daily record of meals served
Oversee kitchen clean-up and storage of leftover food
Inspect and inventory deliveries confirming order accuracy, quality and quantity
Submit invoices to the Nutrition Services Office
Check and record daily refrigerator, freezer and dish machine temperatures
Maintain a safe and sanitary environment complying with Kansas Department of Agriculture guidelines
Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Nutrition or Student Nutrition Manager
