Substitute Bus Driver

The Substitute Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, athletic events, and other school-related activities. This is a substitute position, which means the employee will work on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a school bus and transport students to and from school, athletic events, and other school-related activities
• Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving the bus
• Maintain a clean and safe bus environment for students
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition
• Communicate with school administration and parents regarding bus routes and schedules
• Manage student behavior on the bus and enforce school district policies and procedures
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus safely
• Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues to the appropriate school personnel

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
• Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations related to school bus transportation
• Ability to manage student behavior and enforce school district policies and procedures
• Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis
