The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is committed to the safe and efficient transportation of students, especially those with special needs. We seek professionals dedicated to maintaining a secure environment for our students.

The Bus Monitor assists students with special needs during transport to and from school and activities. This role ensures vehicle safety and sanitation and supports student safety during loading, transit, and unloading.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Helping students with special needs and other passengers during loading and unloading.
  • Enforcing rules and regulations to maintain student safety.
  • Supervising students until they are handed over to a teacher, assistant, or parent.
  • Documenting incidents and passenger misconduct as required.
  • Securing students and equipment for safety during emergencies.
  • Attending meetings, training, and workshops as needed.
  • Performing related tasks to ensure efficient work unit functioning.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience preferred.
  • Skills in accurate record-keeping, equipment operation, safety practices.
  • Knowledge of basic math, written procedures, safety practices.
  • Abilities in scheduling, working with diverse individuals, problem-solving, confidentiality, teamwork.
  • Physical demands include frequent sitting, occasional walking, and significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching; fine finger dexterity.
