A commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations for data center and mission-critical construction projects in the New York region, with emphasis around the Rochester area. The Superintendent will be responsible for directing field activities, managing subcontractors, coordinating complex mechanical/electrical work, and ensuring jobsite safety, quality, and schedule performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all onsite construction activities for data center and related commercial projects
Manage subcontractors, field labor, materials, deliveries, and logistics
Coordinate installation sequencing for mechanical, electrical, and specialty trades
Enforce safety standards and conduct jobsite inspections
Conduct daily huddles, review look-ahead plans, and maintain updated field schedules
Communicate field status, progress, and issues to Project Management and leadership
Ensure quality control across high-precision installations and mission-critical systems
Manage documentation including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, photos, and logs
Coordinate inspections, testing, and special certifications required for data center work
Qualifications
7+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial construction
Demonstrated success overseeing complex projects involving mechanical/electrical systems
Strong ability to read plans, specifications, and technical installation documents
Experience coordinating multiple trades in tight sequencing environments
Excellent communication and leadership skills with subcontractor teams
Safety-first mindset and commitment to quality workmanship
Proficiency in jobsite documentation and standard construction tools
Ability to travel to projects throughout the New York region
