Patient Care Assistant

Assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Prepares and compiles records on the nursing unit. Initiates directions from physicians and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities.

Qualifications: EMT, C.N.A. or ER tech preferred. De-escalation training (obtained CPI within six months of employment) in required specialty. Current BLS required or obtained upon hire. High school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Competency checklist must be completed prior to being able to start IVs.
