POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a highly motivated Territory Sales Manager to develop new business and expand customer relationships throughout an assigned multistate territory.
This is an independent, field-based sales position for someone who enjoys prospecting, opening doors and building a territory. The Territory Sales Manager will receive qualified leads while also generating new opportunities through outbound prospecting, referrals, networking and in-person territory development.
Comprehensive product, technical and sales training will be provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a territory sales strategy focused on new-account acquisition and revenue growth.
- Identify and pursue new business through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals and field activity.
- Respond to qualified leads and manage opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle.
- Establish and maintain relationships with physicians, practice leaders and other healthcare decision-makers.
- Present products and clearly communicate their clinical and business value.
- Conduct product demonstrations, physician lunch-and-learns and educational presentations.
- Maintain consistent communication with prospective and existing customers.
- Build a thorough understanding of the products, competitive advantages and target markets.
- Participate in ongoing product, technical and sales training.
- Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, customer interactions, sales opportunities and territory performance.
- Travel throughout the assigned territory approximately 75% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous sales experience with demonstrated success generating new business.
- A proactive, hunter-oriented approach to prospecting and territory development.
- Strong presentation, relationship-building and consultative-selling skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a large geographic territory.
- Confidence communicating with physicians and other professional decision-makers.
- Ability to learn, understand and explain technical product information.
- Excellent organization, time-management and follow-through.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 75%.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Candidates with inside-sales experience and a strong record of prospecting and new-business development will be considered. Previous outside, territory, healthcare, medical or technical sales experience is preferred but not required.
COMPENSATION
During the first year, compensation includes:
- Base salary of approximately $65,000–$75,000, depending on territory and experience
- 3% commission
Beginning in the second year, compensation transitions to a 9% commission structure.
