SUMMARY: This position assists the Director of Machining in meeting team quality and delivery metrics.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Planning

    • Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualize products to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

    • Compute dimensions, plan layouts and determine assembly methods and sequence of operations.

    • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of a part.

    • Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and model or sketch design of product.



  • Machining


    • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machine and grinders to machine parts and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.

    • Smooth flat and contoured surfaces, fit and assemble parts together into assemblies and mechanisms.

    • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances.


  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Tool and Die Journeyman's Certification preferred

  • 2-5 year's experience with manual or CNC machines
