We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-time Tool & Die Maker to join our top-tier aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional proficiency in set-up, tool repair, and conventional machines. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing our manufacturing capabilities, ensuring the production of high-quality aerospace components that meet stringent industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, modify, and repair a wide range of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges used in aerospace manufacturing processes
- Set up and operate various conventional machines, including lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce precision tools and dies
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools, dies, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tools and dies, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and quality control teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Maintain accurate records of tool and die maintenance, repairs, and modifications
- Train and mentor junior tool and die makers, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in the manufacturing process
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in tool and die making techniques and technologies
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or associate degree in tool and die making preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker in aerospace or related manufacturing industries
- Extensive knowledge of materials, metallurgy, and heat treatment processes used in aerospace manufacturing
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Expert-level skills in operating conventional machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
- Strong understanding of precision measurement techniques and tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM)
- Familiarity with CNC programming and operation is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime and weekends as needed
