Under limited supervision, a traffic director will ensure the safe and consistent flow of vehicles and pedestrians, at designated schools, before and after each school calendar day.
Essential Job Functions
Effectively maintain load of vehicles in and out of the school entrances while
1. maintaining safe pedestrian flow, as applicable Routinely communicate conditions and/or situations with traffic patterns, near misses, 2. congestion, etc. to supervision
Duties & Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accurately maintain records as required by state or federal laws, and Union County Board of Education policies, and/or school-based requests, and adhere to confidentiality requirements of state and federal law.
2. Follow established practices in the use of devices and equipment, i.e., lighted traffic baton, as prescribed in the training manual 3. Inspects and maintains personal protective equipment, i.e. safety vest, to increase personal safety through high visibility. Requests replacements as needed.
4. Utilizes professional and courteous communication with all internal and external stakeholders (i.e. students, parents, teachers, community members, etc.) 5. Effectively produces professionally written correspondence across various communication mediums, i.e. cell phone, computer 6. Participates in departmental, district level and other meetings as directed by supervisor 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to be a self-starter
Communication/Interactions
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and/or groups
Customer Relationships
- Requires the ability to interact with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
- Must be adaptable to performing in stressful and emergency situations
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Exert force Negligible amount of force to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Vision: Frequent near acuity and occasional far acuity. Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Vision to read printed materials, a VDT screen, or other monitoring devices.
Environmental Conditions: Outside weather conditions Hazards: Uneven walking/working surfaces, exposure to moving vehicles.
