The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) in Reno, Nevada is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Urologist to join our high-performing Surgical Service. Position Overview

As a VASNHCS Urologist, you will:

  • Provide quality inpatient and outpatient urologic care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and electronic documentation.

  • Perform general urology procedures, including cystoscopy and small-to-intermediate open or minimally invasive surgical cases.

  • Manage acute Urology needs in the Emergency Department, Operating Room, ICU, inpatient units, and outpatient clinics.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary care with Radiology, Medicine, Laboratory, and ancillary services.

  • Attend required Surgery Service and organizational meetings and support ongoing quality-improvement initiatives.

VASNHCS serves Veterans across 20 counties in northern Nevada and northeastern California, providing care to approximately 120,000 Veterans. Our main campus-the Ioannis A. Lougaris VA Medical Center-offers:

  • 64 acute care beds

  • 60 Community Living Center beds

  • Multiple affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)

Compensation & Benefits (VA Total Rewards)

  • Competitive salary: $300,000-$320,000, based on experience and qualifications.

  • Annual performance bonus eligibility

  • Regular salary increases

  • Vacation & Leave: 26 days annual leave, 13 sick days, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potential 5-day CME absence.

  • Retirement: Federal pension (FERS) with Social Security + Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) with up to 5% VA matching

Loan Repayment - Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

This position may be eligible for the VA's EDRP program:

  • Up to $200,000 in tax-free student loan repayment

  • Eligibility period of 1-5 years, set by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office

Requirements

  • MD/DO from an accredited institution

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology

  • Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
