Veterinary Assistant

Aspetuck Animal Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant to our team. At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. Aspetuck Animal Hospital, a Rarebreed partner, is a busy 3+ doctor, AAHA Accredited, full-service veterinary hospital, and boarding facility located in the beautiful town of New Preston, CT. Our technologically advanced and progressive practice offers in-house diagnostics, digital radiography, acupuncture, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, and a full surgical suite performing routine procedures, soft tissue procedures, and orthopedics. Our dedicated and friendly staff is committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, preventative health care, and health-related educational opportunities for our clients. Veterinary Assistant

$18.00 -25.00 an hour (based on experience)

What You'll Do

Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones

Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy

Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas

Perform physical assessments and record your observations

Prepare estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients

Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions

Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered

Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

At least one year of prior experience in a veterinary hospital is preferred

Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people
