VI Programmer I

General Purpose of Job:

The Variable Imaging Programmer I helps drive the profitability of Quad by programming relevant, highly personalized direct mailings for our customers. This is accomplished through the use of specialized variable data print software including GMC Inspire.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support designated accounts or projects as assigned by management.

• Consult with management, other department members, and client to evaluate individual project needs.

• Analyze customer data, instructions, artwork, and integrate using variable composition software.

• Match client supplied size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, style and size of type.

• Review quality of final product before release to client.

• Present proof samples for internal review/approval prior to delivery to client for selection and/or approval.

• Create finished layout, or prepare instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts.

• Create finished output and supporting documentation for manufacturing.

• Provide off hours/weekend support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

• Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes within industry.

• Follow established company and department QC and SOP standards.

• Create and maintain project-specific workflow documentation.

• Monitor account schedules and inform leadership team when concerns arise.

• Prioritize, track, and maintain records of cost and schedules of multiple projects.

• Participate in Daily Standups to help with labor sharing and team building.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Degree in job-related major or two years of experience in the industry, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Direct Mail print related experience preferred (1+ years).

• Basic understanding of United States Postal Service Guidelines for letter package formatting preferred.

• PC Proficiency required, Mac Proficiency desired.

• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Lync, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

• Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator).

• Variable Data Print (VDP) software such as GMC Inspire, Page Flex, XMPie, Xtreme Dialogue, Fusion Pro.

• Mathematical Skills: Ability calculate numbers/fractions/decimals in all units of measure.

• Basic understanding of if-then-else relational logic, scripting, and object-oriented programming languages.

• Effective English communication skills - verbal and written.
