Sterile Processing Technician

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the sterile environment and ensuring the proper processing of surgical instruments and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sterility of medical instruments and equipment used in surgical procedures.
  • Participate in the receiving, cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of instruments.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the surgical services team to ensure timely availability of instruments for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist with inventory management of sterile supplies and instruments.

Qualifications

  • Licensure and certification as a Sterile Processing Technician in Virginia.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a sterile processing role is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certification in Cleaning, Sterilization, and Processing of Flexible Endoscopes is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, punctuality, and ability to work effectively within a team.

Work Environment

The Sterile Processing Technician will work primarily during the day shift, with additional requirements for weekend work as needed. The role may include occasional on-call duties to support surgical operations. The patient population served includes all ages, with a focus on adult and geriatric patients.

Dress Code

Scrubs will be provided, and adherence to dress code guidelines is mandatory. Casual wear and unapproved fingernails are not permitted.
