CNC Machinist Level III

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machinist 3 to join our world-class manufacturing team at our state-of-the-art aerospace facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating complex machining equipment, including 5-axis machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills. This role is critical in producing high-precision components for cutting-edge aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate advanced CNC machinery, including 5-axis machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills, to manufacture complex aerospace components with extreme precision
  • Interpret and follow complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Set up machines for various operations, including selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC machine operations using CAM software and manual programming techniques
  • Perform in-process quality checks and measurements using precision measuring instruments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to maintain production efficiency and quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and other machinists to improve manufacturing processes and implement new technologies
  • Maintain detailed records of machining operations, including production data, quality reports, and maintenance logs
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Mentor and train junior machinists, sharing knowledge and best practices
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification or associate's degree in machining or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist in aerospace or related high-precision manufacturing industry
  • Proven expertise in operating 5-axis CNC machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with high-performance materials such as titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required

Technical Skills

  • 5-Axis Machining: Expert-level proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines for complex aerospace components
  • Gantry Systems: Extensive experience with large-scale gantry machining systems for oversized aerospace parts
  • Horizontal Mills: Advanced skills in horizontal machining center operations for precision milling of aerospace components
