Angott Search Group is partnering with a $5B bank in South Dakota in the search for a Compliance Manager to support and strengthen the bank's compliance program.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced compliance professional who can oversee a team while remaining actively involved in compliance testing, monitoring, risk mitigation, training, and regulatory initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a working manager, overseeing team performance while actively performing compliance responsibilities.
- Lead risk-based compliance testing and monitoring across the organization.
- Provide hands-on support for complex testing reviews and high-risk compliance areas.
- Identify regulatory gaps, control weaknesses, and emerging risks and track remediation efforts.
- Review, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and job aids.
- Partner with business units on control design, compliance issues, and remediation efforts.
- Prepare clear reporting on testing results, trends, and key risk themes for the Director of Compliance and relevant committees.
- Escalate potential regulatory issues and violations as appropriate.
- Develop and deliver compliance training and promote awareness of regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of accountability, sound judgment, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
- 58+ years of experience in banking compliance, risk management, audit, or legal support.
- Experience with compliance testing, monitoring, or audit preferred.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of consumer banking regulations, including TILA/RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, Reg E, Reg DD, Reg CC, and UDAAP/UDAP.
- Understanding of Compliance Management Systems (CMS) and regulatory expectations.
- Familiarity with lending and deposit operations within a community or regional bank.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with business units and senior leadership.
