Director Of Development For Athletics

The Director of Development for Athletics is charged specifically with the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individuals and corporations with an interest in and capability of supporting the mission of Middle Georgia State University and Knights Athletics; as well as management and facilitation of the Knights Athletics Association, its associated tiers of sponsors, etc.

Responsibilities include promoting and maintaining a personal commitment to the mission of MGA and Knights Athletics, strategically managing all donor work and activities within Knights Athletics, cultivating a portfolio of prospects capable of making major gifts, coordinating and attending donor-focused events, working collaboratively with the Athletics Director and office of advancement to develop a prospect pool of donors, engaging University administration, coaches, athletic staff, and faculty as prospect development resources, maintaining appropriate reporting of activity and monitoring of resources and expenditures, adhering to and enforcing the rules and regulations of the NAIA and NCAA, planning, coordinating and leading donor cultivation events, and facilitation and management of Knights Athletics Association.

Required qualifications include a baccalaureate degree, ability to manage an active portfolio of major gift prospects, ability to develop, maintain and grow interpersonal relationships, willingness to be hands-on in a demanding role, excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to communicate well, and required experience managing donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above.

Preferred experience includes 5 years of progressive experience in college athletics administration.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include understanding and appreciation of intercollegiate athletics and development operations, knowledge of database management and statistical analysis, knowledge of development and fundraising program principles and best practices, knowledge of marketing principles and methods, knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the solicitation and securing of major gifts, skill in collaborating with multiple constituents, ability to manage multiple projects and see projects through to a timely completion with strict attention to detail, proficiency in Raisers Edge software, knowledge of NAIA, SSAC, and NCAA rules and regulations, knowledge of computers and job-related software programs, ability to synthesize and make data driven decisions, skill in oral and written communication.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt (salaried) staff position and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
