The Director of Graduate Nursing and Doctoral Nursing Education is a full-time faculty member in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions who is responsible for teaching and administrative work. The Director of Graduate Nursing Education is accountable to the Dean for the Division of Nursing and Health Professions.

Duties and responsibilities include supporting the mission and goals of the University and the Division, planning and conducting regularly scheduled MS level nursing and DNP nursing faculty meetings, collaborating with the Director of Undergraduate Nursing Education to advise the Dean relative to program status, future directions, learning outcomes, competencies and projected needs and resources, including budget, monitoring student enrollment numbers at the course and program level to project semester faculty needs and number of course offerings, working closely with administrative assistants to ensure timely reporting of course syllabi, end-of-course reports, alternative final exam, and bookstore adoption list, interviewing and recommending new candidates for faculty positions in the MS programs, ensuring the graduate and doctoral program curriculums, course outcomes, and program outcome data are evaluated and revised by corresponding faculty members on a regular basis as scheduled, providing input to the Dean regarding proposed faculty teaching assignments, course offerings, and schedules, providing leadership to MS & DNP faculty relative to professional development; competencies, modifications, and initiatives, and advising Dean relative to faculty morale, performance, and advancement, preparing and renewing program outcome data such as student surveys, clinical facility evaluations, and employer feedback with faculty, providing input to the Dean regarding evaluation of full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty evaluation process, working closely with Clinical Placement Coordinators and faculty in planning clinical/practicum assignments and selecting clinical/practicum placements, assisting in marketing and recruitment activities pertaining to the MS & DNP programs with University Admissions staff and MS faculty and staff, responding to inquiries about the MS nursing program, attending monthly program information sessions with admissions staff, monitoring the academic process of MS & DNP students and advising non-matriculated students, attending to all documentation from state Boards of Nursing, accrediting agencies, and credentialing inquiries, relative to graduates of the program, reviewing applications for transfer credit, and determining courses to be transferred, providing written notification of such courses to the students and to the graduate admissions office, performing a gap analysis for all accepted post-master's certificate programs, participating with Dean, the Director of Undergraduate Nursing Education, and the Director of Health Science, Applied Exercise Science in the DNHP in preparing the Division Annual Report and ACEN annual report, mentoring faculty in professional role and scholarship, participating in discussions regarding budget, disciplinary actions, grievance, and evaluation, working with the FNP, AGACNP, and PMHNP track coordinators to ensure competency in NP faculty, evaluate the NP track curriculum for consistency with current certification board test blueprints, use NP specialty track readiness exam student results to fill voids in curriculum on an annual basis, review graduate performance on certification exam (AANP, ANCC), participating in the development of grant proposals, leading to supplemental funding for the students of the Division of Nursing & Health Professions, overseeing the Standardize Patient Program including recruitment and payroll management, conducting regular program level mappings to ensure course level outcomes are congruent with program outcomes and certification exam blueprints, preparing bi-annual report for DNHP Advisory Committee, reflective of MSN & DNP program outcomes, providing academic guidance to incoming students relative to professional goals, maintaining an on-campus presence Monday through Friday with occasional weekends required for MSN and DNP students, carrying a teaching load, serving as an ex-officio member of the Curriculum Committee and the Evaluation/Assessment Committee of the DNHP, and coordinating activities of division committees in monitoring program quality and preparing reports for various accrediting agencies, i.e., NHHEC, NECHE and ACEN.

Qualifications include being a full-time member of the faculty, holding an MS degree with a major in nursing, holding an earned doctorate in nursing or related discipline, or being actively working on a doctoral degree.
