Position Overview:
The Fabricator is responsible for supporting fabrication operations by assisting in the preparation and welding of components used in the barrel and spring assembly process. This role works under the direction of experienced fabricators to ensure materials and components are properly prepared, welded, and ready for assembly. The position requires basic welding knowledge, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow simplified drawings and fabrication instructions, with a strong focus on learning and skill development in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities (based on assignment):
- Perform basic MIG welding, grinding, plasma cutting, and general fabrication to support component preparation
- Pick, cut, and prepare materials according to simplified fabrication sheet instructions
- Use torch and plasma cutter to cut and modify materials as required
- Prepare parts, fittings, and components in advance to support production flow and minimize downtime for assemblers
- Assist in staging and organizing materials for fabrication and assembly teams
- Operate forklifts to transport oversized materials (up to 40 ft long) and stage them for production
- Read and follow simplified drawings, fabrication sheets, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately
- Perform basic inspections of prepared components to ensure they meet required dimensions and specifications
- Maintain proper material identification and organization throughout the process
- Accurately and timely record production data, including measurements, output, and job completion details, in accordance with company requirements
Job Requirements:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support shared production goals
Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate across functions
Familiarity with cutting equipment (band saw, and shear press)
Experience with MIG welding and metal fabrication processes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication sheets
Experience operating forklifts (certification preferred)
Ability to work with heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks
Requires lifting (up to 50lbs), standing, and operating machinery for extended periods
Safety Responsibilities:
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines while operating welding, cutting, machining, and material handling equipment
Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding shields, gloves, and respiratory protection as required
Safely operate forklifts, winches, and overhead crane hoists to move heavy materials
Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or hazards immediately
Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce risk and support safe operations
Work Environment:
Manufacturing/industrial setting
Exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment
Compensation: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour
