Senior Operations Manager

A growing transportation and logistics organization is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead a fast-paced, high-volume distribution operation.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the realities of a 24/7 operation and knows how to balance people, performance, safety, and customer expectations. The Senior Operations Manager will remain close to daily activity, develop a strong leadership team, and bring consistency and accountability to the operation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily transportation and distribution operations within a 24/7 environment

Manage, coach, and develop operations leaders, supervisors, and frontline teams

Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, service, and labor performance

Monitor KPIs, customer scorecards, and financial results

Identify operational gaps and implement practical process improvements

Support private fleet and independent contractor operations

Maintain high standards for safety, compliance, and service

Partner with customers and internal teams to resolve concerns and improve performance

Ensure appropriate coverage across shifts and changing business demands

Build a culture centered on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

Significant leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or high-volume distribution

Experience managing large teams in a fast-moving, service-driven operation

Knowledge of private fleet operations and/or independent contractor models

Strong understanding of safety, compliance, labor planning, and operational metrics

Proven success improving team performance and operational results

Experience managing customer relationships and service expectations

Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills

Grocery, food distribution, or cold-chain experience is highly preferred

Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred

Schedule Expectations

This position requires a consistent Tuesday through Saturday schedule beginning at 6:00 a.m. Because the operation runs around the clock, flexibility for extended hours, holidays, and changing operational needs is also important.
