Whether youre just starting your career or looking to grow in a new direction, youll find opportunities to thrive, lead, and make a meaningful impact here./ph3Job Description/h3pPerforming all aspects of phlebotomy on patients of all ages; processing blood and other laboratory specimens; interacting with nursing units related to specimen and order tracking; computer inquiry./ph3Responsibilities/h3pDemonstrates proper phlebotomy technique, proper identification of patient, correct labeling of samples and processing of specimens. Responsible for teaching proper phlebotomy technique to students, residents, and new employees./ppObtains blood specimens and non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. Properly identifies patients, selects appropriate gauge needles and prepares veins or fingers for collection of blood./ppPerforms all tests and procedures following standard laboratory procedure and techniques on all patients./ppPerforms EKGs, breath alcohol testing and transmits results. Also Performs registration or order entry as needed./ppCompletes necessary paperwork and posts all laboratory charges to encounter forms for all patients. Maintains accurate records to facilitate ease of insurance filing/ppResponds immediately to STAT requests and ensures that specimens are sent and received/ppAttends continual educational sessions each year either for technical or personal improvement/ph3Qualifications/h3pHigh School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
