Overview
We are partnered with a leading mission-critical general contractor delivering hyperscale and enterprise data center projects across the U.S. We are seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities from installation through system turnover.
These projects involve complex electrical and mechanical infrastructure, phased system turnover, and strict commissioning protocols tied to aggressive project schedules.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning efforts from preconstruction through final turnover, ensuring alignment with project schedule and milestones
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and third-party commissioning agents
- Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, and system turnover strategies
- Track installation progress and readiness for testing, energization, and startup
- Oversee execution of commissioning activities across electrical and mechanical systems
- Support Level 1–5 commissioning processes and ensure proper documentation and system validation
- Identify and resolve issues impacting system startup, testing, or turnover
- Coordinate system walkdowns, punch list completion, and closeout documentation
- Maintain communication with clients, engineers, and commissioning teams regarding system readiness and performance
Systems & Scope Exposure
This role will support commissioning of critical systems including:
- Electrical distribution systems (switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, bus duct)
- Mechanical cooling systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps)
- Building controls and monitoring systems
- Life safety and fire protection systems
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in commissioning, MEP construction, or related field
- Experience with mission-critical or data center projects strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience supporting system startup, testing, and turnover processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and commissioning plans
- Strong coordination and communication skills across multiple teams
- Willingness and ability to travel for project assignments
