Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

We are seeking experienced candidates for the role of Sterile Processing Technician. This position involves a range of responsibilities across various areas of sterile processing within a high-volume healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Decontaminate all types of medical instruments and devices, including drills, robotic surgical instruments, and scopes.
• Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma and loaner instruments, while ensuring appropriate peel packaging is utilized.
• Oversee and execute the sterilization process using Sterrad and steam techniques.
• Demonstrate high-level disinfection (HLD) practices and possess scope handling experience.
• Maintain sterile storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Act as an OR liaison to facilitate communication and processes between surgical teams.
• Utilize the Censitrac tracking system for effective instrument tracking and management.
• Operate Medivator systems as required for specific sterilization processes.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have prior experience in sterile processing, ideally in a busy trauma facility setting.
• A certification from either the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) is required.
• Strong knowledge of sterile processing protocols, regulations, and best practices.

Additional Information

This position requires rotating weekend shifts and occasional holiday work. Candidates must be flexible and able to adapt to the demands of a busy sterile processing department.
