Postdoctoral Fellow - Ai Research Collaborator

The Office of Research and Innovation (OR&I) and Information Technology Services (ITS) at Georgia Southern University, in partnership with the AI: Automation and Humanistic Application ICUE, invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow - AI Research Collaborator. This position supports interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), and applied scholarship.

Reporting to the Provost Fellow for the ICUE and collaborating with the Associate Vice President for Research (AVPR), Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Research IT, and faculty across the university, the Fellow will help researchers, particularly those in non-computational fields, integrate AI/ML methods into competitive grant proposals and active research projects. The Fellow will maintain an active affiliation with the ICUE and contribute to interdisciplinary AI research, faculty engagement, proposal development, and strategic initiatives. Through these efforts, the position will foster collaboration, increase effective use of shared computing resources, and strengthen Georgia Southern University's capacity to secure external funding for "AI + X" research across disciplines.

Required Qualifications: Educational Requirements Ph.D. earned within the last five (5) years in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Social Science, or another highly quantitative field with substantial emphasis on machine learning, deep learning, or computational research Required Experience Demonstrated experience building, training, fine-tuning, and evaluating machine-learning or deep-learning models using established frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or comparable tools Demonstrated hands-on experience with GPU-accelerated computing and high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, including executing computationally intensive AI/ML workloads in shared computing environments Strong record of scientific productivity as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, or comparable scholarly outputs

Preferred Qualifications: Experience contributing to competitive federal grant proposals or externally funded research projects Familiarity with containerized and reproducible research environments, such as Docker and Apptainer/Singularity, as well as version-control and research-software best practices Knowledge of responsible AI practices, AI ethics, data governance, privacy, security, reproducibility, and algorithmic-bias assessment or mitigation

Proposed Salary: $65,000 This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
