Tech - Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary:


The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for ensuring the proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical instruments and supplies within perioperative services. This role supports operational efficiency by managing sterilization processes, inventory, and equipment, along with assisting with departmental tasks and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Prepare and assemble surgical trays and supplies for sterilization.
  
• 
  Operate, monitor, and maintain autoclave and sterilizer equipment, ensuring proper functioning and documentation.
  
• 
  Perform sterilization procedures, including wrapping, packaging, and processing items using steam or ethylene oxide sterilization methods.
  
• 
  Conduct biological and chemical testing at shift start, recording results accurately.
  
• 
  Inspect sterilizers and gas and steam autoclaves for malfunctions, reporting issues promptly.
  
• 
  Assist with inventory management, restocking supplies, and reconciling charges as needed.
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
  
• 
  Possess a valid Registered Central Service Technician certification.
  
• 
  Bring at least 6 months of experience in sterile processing or central sterile processing.
  
• 
  Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization standards as set by IAHCSMM.
  
• 
  Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a solid work ethic.
